When A Death Occurs
   In the case of death in a hospital, the hospital staff will notify you. You will then have to contact your funeral director of choice, who will take care of your needs.
   Should your loved one pass away in a nursing home, the nursing home staff will have the details of your preferred funeral director on file and will contact them on your behalf.
   If an expected death occurs at home, call a doctor immediately. Then contact the funeral director of your choice who will give you advice and attend to your needs.
   When an accident occurs or death is unexpected, telephone the police immediately on 000. The services of a funeral director should then be sought.

Funeral Arrangements
The funeral director will assist you with the arrangements for the funeral and coordinate the process on your behalf. It is advisable to speak with the funeral director regarding the specific services they provide, however, a funeral director will typically:
· Transfer the person to the funeral home
· Arrange necessary certificates, documentation and certified copies as required

· Obtain particulars and register the death with the Registrar General
· Liaise with Clergy/Celebrants and crematorium/cemetery
· Prepare funeral notices for newspaper publication
· Present your loved one for viewing if required
· Order floral tributes if required and
· Perform the funeral and attend to all your needs.
